Law360 reported that Boeing's former chief technical pilot's acquittal on charges that he deceived safety regulators and airlines about the 737 Max was a notable failure for U.S. Department of Justice prosecutors.  In the article, Bradley Simon commented, "For years, the DOJ has been subject to criticism that all they want to do is get these big settlements, and they never go after individuals. So they pick this guy. They should be going after the higher-ups in the company who made a lot of these decisions.
