Joshua Wurtzel recently spoke to the Global Investigations Review about Anthropic’s IPO filing. In the article “Alarm sounded as Anthropic IPO filing reveals ‘catastrophic’ risks,” Joshua discusses the company’s recent IPO filing and the potential political retaliation addressed within it.

In its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Anthropic outlined a range of risks associated with its business, including regulatory scrutiny, government investigations, export restrictions and potential political backlash. The disclosures come as the company faces heightened scrutiny from federal officials over its AI technology, government contracts and positions on issues such as national security and surveillance.

Joshua addressed Anthropic’s disclosure that its values and public positions could continue to attract criticism from political figures, regulators and other influential parties. He noted that the language in the filing reflects the possibility that government scrutiny may extend beyond ordinary regulatory oversight.

“The existing administration has shown that it’s willing to target companies–and Anthropic is a good example of this–that it perceives as political enemies, or that it perceives as being on the opposite side of whatever political fight there is,” he tells Global Investigations Review.
