On September 18, 2026, President Trump announced that he was banning news organizations CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House. The news organizations and three individual reporters brought suit and moved for a temporary restraining order immediately reinstating their White House press credentials.
On September 24, 2026, Judge Timothy J. Kelly of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia (a 2017 Trump appointee) granted the temporary restraining order for 14 days, ordering the Government to restore the news organizations’ and their reporters’ White House press credentials.
