After the doctor was convicted, his trial counsel brought in Harvey Stone, who prevailed in a court known for rarely overturning criminal convictions. This victory led to a new trial and subsequent acquittal in which the jury cleared the doctor of all charges.

New York Law Journal Features Schlam Stone & Dolan Lawsuit Against BlackRock

On August 15, 2016, the New York Law Journal reported on a lawsuit filed by Schlam Stone & Dolan on behalf of Beltway 7 Properties, LLC against BlackRock Inc. and affiliated entities arising out of a Mezzanine Loan Agreement. The lawsuit seeks restitution of approximately $844,000 in late fees and interest charged by BlackRock that Beltway alleges was an unenforceable penalty. Schlam Stone Dolan partner Jeffrey M. Eilender was quoted, saying that “this is a situation where the borrower did everything right. This whole thing is supposed to be analyzed under equity, what is fair.” Beltway is being represented by Mr. Eilender and associate Seth D. Allen.

Jonathan Mazer Quoted Again on the Subject of Uber/Lyft Regulations

Schlam Stone & Dolan partner Jonathan Mazer was quoted by Law360 in an article concerning Congressional regulatory hearings. Mr. Mazer noted that: "While popular with riders, existing stakeholders in the ground transportation space — often carefully regulated themselves — view limited regulatory scrutiny of ride-hailing companies as unfair . . . . The pressure to make regulation more even across providers who are ultimately providing similar services to customers is likely to continue and intensify."

Partners Dolan and Groothuis Named Officers Of New York American Inn Of The Court

Schlam Stone & Dolan partner Richard H. Dolan has been elected as President of the New York American Inn of Court as of January 2014. Erik S. Groothuis, another partner of the firm, has been elected Vice President of the Inn. The mission of the Inn is to foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills. The Inn's membership of approximately 150 attorneys consists of judges, government and public interest lawyers, and private practitioners of all ages.
