Schlam Stone & Dolan LLP

A Brief History of The Firm

Schlam Stone & Dolan LLP was founded in 1981 by Harvey Stone and the late Peter Schlam, who had worked together in the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, where Mr. Stone was Chief of the Appeals Division and Mr. Schlam was Executive Assistant United States Attorney.  The next year, Richard Dolan, who had served in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District, joined the firm.

With the addition of Mr. Dolan, the Firm became Schlam Stone & Dolan, a litigation firm dedicated to excellence in every aspect of advocacy.  Since our founding in 1981, our litigation practice has grown from the three founders to today's thirteen attorneys who concentrate on litigation.  In January 2007, we added two transactional attorneys – including Senior Partner Wayne Baden – who focus on structuring investment vehicles to purchase and operate ground transportation businesses, financial institutions and other businesses.

We have drawn our attorneys from the United States Attorney's Office and the City's most prominent law firms, such as Cravath Swaine & Moore, Simpson Thacher, Cleary Gottlieb, Paul Weiss, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Fried Frank, Boies Schiller & Flexner, Cahill Gordon, and Heller Ehrman.  We have very little turnover among the attorneys at the Firm.  Thus, our clients can expect that every representation will be staffed by the same seasoned attorneys from inception to conclusion.
